Citadel Construction Completes Wurk Environments’ Flagship Times Square Site
New York, NY - Citadel Construction is proud to announce the recent completion of Wurk Environments’ flagship location, Wurk - Times Square. Occupying two floors (11th and 12th) at 1515 Broadway, “the crossroads of the world,” and totaling 65,000 sf in the towering 54-story building, the innovative concept in high-end, flexible office space transforms and exceeds the industry model.
Citadel implemented a multi-phased approach to ensure Wurk-Times Square would open its doors on January 1, 2009. As Wurk Environments’ Construction Manager, Citadel, in partnership with the architectural firm Swanke Hayden Connell and the engineering company, Robert Derector Associates, was able to fast-track the two-floor gut and fit project by carefully coordinating the teams’ field activities while managing a multitude of owner vendors.
For example, specially commissioned electronic lock-sets which operate on a key-card system required Citadel to hire an interpreter and travel to Shang-hai to personally inspect the lock-sets to ensure industry compliance and effect a seamless installation.
The blueprint for Wurk’s office suites, where form embraces and enables function, is based on the latest research on office psychology and physiology. Several of the most striking elements of the new Wurksite include full height etched glass office side lights which allow expansive light to flow from perimeter to interior offices; a three-panel floating 3-Form feature wall behind a reception desk custom-crafted of granite and imported wood; two boulevard cafes with curved quartz counter tops; two data centers; 193 professional Wurksuites and a full service lounge, available exclusively to tenants of Wurk-Times Square.
With the flagship complete and 75% occupied, Citadel is assisting with Wurk Environments’ second location, Wurk-Grand Central. Currently in the pre-programming stage, Citadel is prequalifying a select list of consultants who will be responsible for the new 45,000 sf Wurksite. As plans expand to introduce Wurksites globally, Citadel will continue as Wurk Environments’ CM in such leading cities as Los Angeles, London, Toronto and Mumbai.
